Dominic Baldwin interview

We started by Asking Dominic what projects he is currently working on.

Dominic: It’s not what I would call a project more an ongoing mission. That is, to improve the perception of my industry by providing a service that excels at all times. It sounds cliché but it’s true, we want to make Xentum different by making it better than our competitors, which we will achieve by making our clients experiences with us something they would remark about. We want to make all of our clients ‘advocates’ of our business, which is where the concept of the Xentum Difference comes from.

We asked Dominic what are his short and long term objectives for Xentum.

Dominic: Unsurprisingly to grow the size of our business. We have a very clear plan of how we aim to do this. Our intention is to grow through internal development not acquisition with a team of financial advisors each with a sizable client list. In order to do this we have very clear goals and strategies about how we manage our reputation with our clients, potential business partners and referrers.

What are Xentum’s biggest business challenges today.

Dominic: Well I guess our biggest challenge is managing our growth, like most businesses who grow quickly this presents challenges, but for us our biggest challenge would probably be retaining our personal touch, its for this reason that we intend to limit the number of clients our advisors help, so far we are achieving our goals.

What’s unique about Xentum as a company.

Dominic: That’s easy it’s the people who work for Xentum and our attitude to our clients, it really does underpin everything we have achieved and everything we will achieve.

What was the last charitable act you took part in?

Dominic: Along with the Company Secretary, I rode a 100 mile cycle ride in aid of leukaemia research. We also donate annually to’ When You Wish Upon a Star’, a local charity providing experiences and outings for terminally ill children.

We asked Dominic what he would like to achieve outside of work.

Dominic: I would definitely like to improve my golf handicap so that I could spend less time looking in bushes for balls I have lost, ideally I would like to get my handicap down to single figures.

We asked Dominic what he would like to achieve outside of work.

Dominic:

Nelson Mandela – because I would love to have the opportunity to learn from his experience.

Prince Charles – because I think he would be an interesting guest and I agree with his sentiments about the environment and agriculture

Kylie Minogue – because I could!
