Terry burke interview
We started by Asking Peter what projects he is currently working on.
Peter: Our biggest and continuing project is to raise the profile of ITL and our products. We have been producing environmentally friendly Inks for some years now, long before our competitors, but our challenge has been to give our company a bigger ‘voice’ so that everybody knows this and gives us the credit we deserve for doing it. We are in a very large industry sector and getting your message out is sometimes difficult.
We asked Peter what are his short and long term objectives for ITL.
Peter: We aim to be one of the top five manufacturers of third party inks in the world. But we have a very clear objective about how we want to achieve this, and that is that we aim to only produce our products in the greenest way possible, and that we will continually try to improve and innovate our products. We believe that if we can get this message out clearly people will value what we do, and this will lead to our success.
What are ITL’s biggest business challenges today.
Peter: Cheaper lower quality product from China and other emerging nations, plus the need to counter the claims of other manufacturers who falsely claim a ‘green’ status for their products.
What’s unique about ITL as a company.
Peter: Well, first of all we manufacture and distribute from the UK at a time when UK manufacturing capability seems to be on the decline. We also have some of the best people in our industry working for ITL, it is for this reason that we were able to come up with an ink that has revolutionised the wide format print market, in that it was the first solvent ink to be used in wide format machines and this has allowed a whole new industry to evolve. Something which I am very proud to be a part of.
OK Peter lets hear your best pitch for ITL!

Our range of Eco and Full Solvent inks, Coding inks, UV Curing and Water Based inks are available in bulk and in pre-filled ink cartridges for most popular inkjet printer brands.
ITL Digital Inks have consistently offered users both performance benefits and cost savings and are supported by a dedicated service that you can trust. ITL is headquartered in Cheshire in the north of England with all manufacturing and product development taking place solely in the UK where BS EN ISO 9001:2000 was achieved in March 2006. Will that do?
We asked Peter what his personal ambitions are.
Peter: Learn to Scuba dive. I am fascinated by what goes on under the sea and the sense of freedom it must give floating around. Learn Mandarin I feel that China is going to play a major role in our lives and it is important to be able to communicate with them.
And finally If you could be anybody for a day who would you be?
Peter: It is very naïve but the leader of the World Bank. I would then wipe out all the Third world debt. As I said it is very naïve because it is never that simple and there will always be poor people. But it would sure feel good.
Thanks for your time Peter
